Our medium roast coffee beans are roasted for a total of 17 minutes to bring out a delightful and delicate flavor. The naturally sweet Hawaiian coffee has hints of maplewood, milk chocolate and honey. The coffee beans are naturally decaffeinated using a chemical-free Swiss water process to remove 99 percent of the caffeine.

We offer the first coffee ever to be grown like wine. Inspired by the family vineyard in California, we developed and patented a process that involves growing coffee on wires the same way winemakers grow grapes. Opening the coffee trees up to sunlight and aeration increases development of the coffee cherries, their ripening, and the natural production of sugar.

Many coffee farmers use observation of the change of color from green to red to determine when to pick coffee cherries. We take a scientific approach, testing the coffee cherries for pH level, sugar concentration and titratable acid before handpicking them at their optimum maturity. Over 300,000 visitors have toured our coffee plantation to learn about our growing process and enjoy our variety of Kona coffee blends. For every package, we start with our trellis grown Kona coffee beans and blend them with complementary arabica coffee beans to create the perfect gourmet coffee with a distinctive naturally sweet flavor. Kona Joe coffee beans are grown on a trellis system like the grapes of the world’s best wines. Growing the cherries on wires opens the trees to sunshine and aeration, increasing the sweetness and flavor of the coffee.

To ensure our coffee berries are picked at the optimum time, we scientifically test them to make sure they have the perfect balance of acid and dissolved sugars. We then hand-pick and hand-sort them for the best results.

Our farm is our home so we don’t use herbicides or pesticides on our trees. We use organic farming methods whenever possible to grow our coffee beans. Coffee beans are dried using a combination of mechanical and sun-drying methods.
